Boise's First Snow

Somewhere between the night of 4 October 2009 and the morning of 5 October, Bogus Basin, 15 minutes from our house and 43800 feet above the valley floor, there was snow! About 6" and I just had to take Buddy to see it and play in it. Here are some slides. Enjoy!

Nothing But Sunsets

Here is a short slide video of sunsets shot on the Djuma Reserve, Sabi Sands, S. Africa, that we took while on virtual safari drives over the past month. Enjoy!

Boise Farmer's Market Video Resized

OK. So snow is forcast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. But, thanks that Boise is in the Banana Belt, so the snow will stay ion the mountains where it belongs. Snow level: 5000 feet. So this video may be the last for the Farmer's Market tis year. We'll see!

Enjoy!! Let me know if this is any better. Video taken on the "Bike Cam".

Boise Saturday Farmer's Market

I have been using Microsoft's Movie Maker and I really don't think it has kept pace with technology. It is very slow to make the movie after editing it and you are very limited on the available formats. I guess you get what you pay for. I found another video maker/editer called Pinnacle Studuo 12. This is my first attempt at Pinnacle, so let's see what I did. I am also putting a copy on my FaceBook account.

Cheers!

Wapiti Meadows Sojourn Video

On 17 September, Robin and I took a trip to North Central Idaho and the back country, looking for Peregrine habitat and Elk habitat. Here is a video of that trip. If you have never seen the Idaho back country, this will give you some idea of what it is like. This is Wapiti Meadows Ranch, Diana and Barry Bryant, Hosts, on Johnson Creek. An awesome place! (208) 633-3217. Getting there is half the fun. Ford the stream. Wrong road. Maybe a road. Not a road - goat trail! Closed road. Narrow road. Right road, finally. Enjoy!

Robin's Retirement Tribute

I know, this may look long, but it is worth the time to watch this. Really fun to do - it took close to 60 years to gather the information for the video - and it is dedicated to Robin, who deserves every bit of recognition and this tribute.

Camera on Bike

Robin asked a while back if we can video while on a bike ride. Well, yes you can. All I had to do is figure a way to mount the camera on the bike. And with a #16 stainless steel screw clamp, a 1"x1/4" #20 bolt, two 1/4" nuts (all though, two wing nuts may work better), some 1/2" strip insulation and we have the camera mounted. Place the clamp on the handle bar. Mark where the top center is. Remove the clamp and drill a 1/4" hole. Place the bolt through the hole and secure with one nut. Wrap the handle bar with the insulation - only one layer. Attach the screw clamp with the bolt facing up. Place the other nut on the bolt. Attach the camera and secure in place with the 2nd nut and you're done. Yup! It works. Here's the proof.

Life's Kitchen Grilling - Flash

Maybe now this will be in FlashPlayer mode.

OK, so yes, it is a FlashPlayer video. Flash is similar to Adobe PDF, in that it is cross-platform. Let me know if you think the quality is better than the video below - they're the same, just different formats. If your computer asks to load FlashPlayer, do so. Its free and easy.

Another Short Adventure

OK, here's another adventure that a friend of ours and I took. (Boy's night out!) Not far from home this time, only about 8 blocks, due north. Lots of fun, but rainny and cold. (Snow in the mountains, and this is mid-June! Where's summer?) And all to benefit one of Boise's great places - Life's Kitchen, where they train kids to enter the food preparation sector. They become Chefs! One such individual is in this video. Really a great cause and worth supporting. Try cutting a baguette into slices and lightly toasting, spreading the slices with cream cheese and topping with caramelized onions. But wait! Watch the video!

That was our weekend. What did you do?

Tour Our Wine Cellar

This is my first attempt to upload a video to any blog. The video is 4:35 long and takes about 3 minutes to upload and the about 6 minutes to process, what ever that is. It was uploaded as a WMV file and should be OK with Windows users. I don't know about MAC users. Please let me know. It was made February 2007, so it is an older one, but a good test.
